CSS Leadership Trek 2010 Day 1

October 20, 2010. I thought its gonna be another boring day for me. I need to wake up early to defend or pass a project. It's annoying. But I was wrong. We weren't able to submit our project. That's a bummer. However, what's in store for me in a few hour's time was enough to turn the mood upside down. It was 12:00nn.

At 3:00pm, everything started. Leadership Trek 2010. Started off with a race of four groups - Java, C++, C# and SQL. Like every race, the groups planned different plans, walked different paths and took different roads. We, the Java group, planned to do all the buying in Tabunok, Cebu and ride a private vehicle all the way to Carcar, Cebu, our destination. Doing so, we were able to chill out while participating the race. And fortunately, we won! Now that's a very good way to start the Trek! Way to go JAVA!

Now, as a reward, we were able to swim in the pool ahead of the other groups! But it's not just the fact that we can swim the pool ahead that made me enjoy the race but also the fun we had as a team (cha~!).

One by one, the remaining groups came starting with C++, SQL then C# who came in last. The real thing began. Started off with a "working dinner" with a former president of the CIT-SSG. We learned a lot. I just can't seem to retrieve the words he said but I sure remember that we, as leaders, should be able to leave our legacy so as to prove that we are real and successful leaders.

After the dinner came the start of our transformation process. A group of volunteers from the Bible Baptist(correct me if I'm wrong) were also invited to share with us a piece of them. The talk was all about how we, as humans, are being manipulated by sin, how we should deal with them and what must be done to be saved from them. In the end, we realized that we are slowly being transformed to be better individuals and eventually, leaders.

After the talk, its party party! Everyone enjoyed the night the best they could, some swam the whole night through, others talked with others, met new friends, while some, like me, enjoyed the rest of the night in bed. Tired, I leaned my head on a pillow and darkness covered me. When I woke up, it was 5:00 am.
